Wine Pairing
Carpe Vino! The right wine can really enhance a great meal. First Class Cooking teams with certified sommelier Robert Landsness to present wine pairing and cooking classes. A regional menu is developed and wines are carefully matched to the food and showcase the wines of that region. Previous regions have include: Australia and New Zealand, France, Italy, South America and the next event will focus on the wines and foods of Spain.

A Celebration of Summer: Wine Pairing and Cooking Class w/ Sommelier Robert Landsness
Tuesday August 12, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

  • Heirloom Tomato & Caramelized Onion Tart

  • Salmon w. Herbed-Lemon Sauce

These classes include a presentation on how to taste and analyze wines and then pairs a wine with each course. The emphasis is on flavorful courses that are surprisingly easy to prepare. These classes costs $80.

Robert has extensive knowledge acquired from working in many facets of the wine industry: He has completed the Intermediate and Advanced Certificate courses at the Wines & Spirits Education Trust in New York City and the Master Sommelier's Certificate course in San Francisco, apprenticed with Ted Lemon at Littorai where he learned how to produce wines in the Burgundian fashion and locally, has served as Assistant Sommelier at Aqua and 5th Floor, and Maitre D' at Tartare.

Enhanced Nutrition Classes: Cooking for Optimum Health
In noting the correlation between good nutrition and cooking, First Class Cooking has teamed with Wendi Holmes to demystify "healthy eating." In this class, we will focus on healthy fats and discuss the health benefits of certain fats while we prepare tasty, healthy recipes incorporating nutrient-dense ingredients.

These recipes taste great and are designed to make healthy eating a delicious and easy-to-adhere-to lifestyle.

Wendi has worked for the past 10 years as a Registered Nurse and in addition, harbors a particular passion for Holistic Health and Nutrition. She has studied with a Naturopath Physician and worked as an RN for a holistic medical practice. She received a Certification as a Nutrition Educator from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition.
